Is acrylic and PC same?
- Materials
The basic raw materials of acrylic board and PC board are different. Acrylic is polymerized from methyl methacrylate monomer MMA, cast acrylic plate is MMA, extruded acrylic is PMMA, and PC plate is made of polycarbonate by co extrusion technology.
- Light transmittance
The light transmittance of acrylic board and PC board is very good. The light transmittance of acrylic board is more than 92%, and that of PC board is as high as 89%, which is basically difficult to distinguish.
- Burning
The PC board cannot burn in case of fire, and its ignition point is 580 ℃. It will self extinguish after leaving the fire, so it will not produce toxic gas during combustion and will not promote the spread of fire. Acrylic burns with clear flame, no smoke, and bubbles. The filament can be pulled out when putting out a fire. There is no smoke, bubble and squeak when the cast plate is burning, and there is no wire when extinguishing fire.
- Impact resistance
PC board has good impact resistance and can not be broken. The impact resistance of Polycarbonate sheet is 8 to 10 times that of acrylic board.
- Ultraviolet
The ultraviolet radiation ability of pc surface is 5 times that of outdoor. Generally, the service life of acrylic board can reach 2 years without yellowing, and that of new Polycarbonate sheet can reach 10 years.
- Price
Compared with acrylic plate, Pc plate is more expensive than acrylic plate. For example, the price of 5MM thick acrylic board is about 200 yuan, while the price of 3MM thick PC board of the same area is about 200 yuan per square meter
